My life and the lives of many more have changed forever since Hurricane Katrina, not all of it was bad we on the Gulf Coast have had the chance to meet some of the nicest people in the world. These people gave the gift of themselves to come here in the worst of conditions to help us. These people (many of them slept on the ground in sleeping blankets with no air condition,did the worst of manual labor helping to gut our homes put their arms around us and brought us food and water and clothes. To these people there are not enough words to say THANK YOU.

Over the next few week I will be posting articles from my journal of the stories of the hurricane and the recovery. These stories are from my own and close friends personal experiences. I want you to know that this is not my first experience with hurricanes. I have been through the worst ones that this country has ever had including Camile and Andrew and at least 20 or more. This was not like thoese. It was the worst. And the stories are about everyday people like you and how and what they did to survive. They are the stories of how they coped both mentaly and physical. The stories of loss and of hope. I hope you will enjoy them.
