The Star Wars Phenomenon

It was thirty-three years ago today that we gathered in long lines to check out the new movie called Star Wars.

Star Wars Facts:

Did you know that the idea for Chewbacca came from George Lucas's dog, "Indiana"? Lucas siad it was a cross between his dog, a monkey and a bear.

Did you know that the name for the robot droid R2D2 came to Lucas whle he was filming "American Graffitti"? Someone was looking for REEL 2 - DIALOGUE 2 and was shouting "R2-D2. ANYONE SEEN R2-D2?" Lucas liked this and decided to use it for the Star Wars movie.

Did you know that Luke Skywalker's name has changed many times during the script writing? His first name was Luke Starkiller.

James Earl Jones, the voice of Darth Vader, was convinced the movie would be a flop and refused to allow his name to be in the original credits of the film.
