I recently visited Washington D.C. and saw both the Vietnam Memorial and the World War II Memorial. The Vietnam Memorial is a stark black wall with the names of those who died. You cannot help but be emotionally moved by the experience. I found myself touching a name and feeling some kind of a bond with the person.
The World War II Memorial was enormous in its scope, recognizing Europe and the Pacific as the battlegrounds, with all the US states represented.
