Indian Culture

May 30 2012 Indian Culture Newsletter

Greetings!

The Indian heat has been very unkind over the last week. This seemed the best time to keep home and look up some DVDs. Last week I watched ‘The Amy Carmichael Story’ with my daughter and I was shocked and surprised at what I learnt from this animated presentation of the life and work of the Irish Missionary in India. I learnt about the ancient Indian Custom of temple prostitution which has thankfully been abolished now. I wrote up a review on the DVD and will be writing more on the cruel Indian tradition of making prostitutes of young girls who are supposedly married to the god. So keep reading!
