Great news for tatters in the USA Midwest!
On June 8, 2013 the Lacemakers of Illinois (http://www.lacemakersofillinois.org)will celebrate Lace Day 2013 They will be in the American Legion Hall at 4000 Saratoga Avenue, Downers Grove, Illinois. Scheduled times are 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call to confirm availability of seats in the classes.

Note that the tatting class is limited to 8 students so sign up soon, or suggest they add an additional tatting!

CLASSES:
Beginning Bobbin Lace - 10:00 a.m to noon class "Snake Bookmark" (open to 8 students) $25.00 You need no knowledge of lacing. Supplies will be furnished for this class. --Diane Haber, assisted by Donna Fousek. L.A.C.E. members.

Crochet — 10:00 a.m to noon class - " Enclave Flowered Necklace." $25.00 (open to 8 students ) For supplies bring thin cotton yarn of your favorite colors and a 1.0 to 2.0 mm hook. Samples might be Pearl 12, or Crochet Cotton 20. Some choices available at the Nook booth. Pattern will be provided that day. -- Nancy Manthey from The Nook

Crochet -- 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. class -"Think outside the Border". (open to 8 students) - $25.00. This class is a sharing of projects to give the students ideas of how to personalize anything- ready made tablecloths and tee shirts for starters. --Nancy Manthey from The Nook

Intermediate Tatting —1:00 to 3:00 p.m. class "Tatted Motif" (open to 8 Students) $25.00 Students must be able to do basic stitches with the shuttle. Supplies needed will be a tatting shuttle, and tatting or crochet thread. Lizbeth size 20 works well in a solid color. --Dianna Smith, L.A.C.E. Member

Heirloom Sewing, Practice In Applying Lace To Fabric - 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. class (Open to 10 students) $25.00 Supplies furnished. --Susan Groh from Unique Expressions. All classes must be prepaid by May 18th.

FRIDAY CLASS: Flanders Grounds with Susan Groh from Unique Expressions. They will be making samples of different grounds. Open to 12 Students. Supplies: an 18 inch flat pillow, 38 bobbins wound singly with Brok 100/2, 100/3, 80/2 or an equivilant in white or ecru; 2 yards per bobbin and bring the thread with.. Gimp bobbin wound with 1 yard of #16 Broder cotton plus extra empty bobbins. Colored pencils - green, red, purple, yellow. Cover cloths, pins, scissors, etc. (It will be helpful if you know how to plait with 8 bobbins) . This class will meet at the Clarendon Hills Library in the meeting room upstairs.

See their location page for directions. Be sure to bring a sack lunch as the lunch hour is short. Class on Friday is $40.00. All classes must be prepaid by May 18th.

BOX LUNCH for Saturday only - They are making arrangements for Box Lunches to be brought into the building. $9.00 each. Selections are listed on the Registration form Commemorative bobbins will be available. Please be sure to stop at the registration table.. Tatted Lace Insertion with Needle Weaving The insertion pictured above was designed by Tina Frauberger. It is composed of two lines of an edging joined together by two floating rings. The open area between the center joins is filled with needle weaving. This needle weaving may be replaced with tatted rings.
