I have had an adventure. In May we took a trip to Iowa and I was able to visit the Madison County Historical Complex, 815 S. 2nd Avenue, Winterset Iowa. Tel: 515-462-2134. Website: www.historyonthehill.com. Winterset is also the birthplace of actor John Wayne and the location where the movie, "The Bridges of Madison County" was filmed. This museum was also mentioned in the May/June 2012 PIECEWORK magazine.
PIECEWORK magazine had an article about a bedspread tatted by gentleman tatter, Chester Ross Bentz Sr. The story told how he learned to tat while awaiting transportation Stateside after the end of World War I. Chester then enjoyed a life-long love affair with tatting. The bespread is on display at the county museum.
I had to go see it.
Here is just a little of what is displayed there:

When traveling in Iowa take time to visit the Museum. Happy Tatting All!
Here's the latest article from the Tatting site at BellaOnline.com.
Julie Patterson - Three Books These three books by Julie Patterson in Australia have long been out of print. The patterns are all easy to follow with clear diagrams and photos of the work. They have been brought back into print this week. They would be an excellent addition to any tatter's tatting reference library.
