Birding

Kathleen again, from the Birding Corner at BellaOnline.com

Some of you have sent me touching stories about your encounters with birds. Thank you for those, and keep them coming! They continually reinforce to me the same thing: when humans and nature interact, our emotions get involved.

Many of my readers know that I'm a personal essayist in real life. That means I write primarily about my own experiences, and plenty of those have to do with my love of birds. This week I've posted two stories from my own backyards--spaced years apart. Help yourself!

Backyard squabbles--the Squirrel and the Wren
Join me in my backyard this morning, won't you? It teems with life in early summer--and you know you need the break!

Old Crow and Green Jello
Certain leftovers are okay provender for the birds. Jello may not be the best of them, but the day I threw out that lump of green I learned a lesson I've remembered all my life.
