Last month I spent four days in Dahlonega, Georgia. It was this Yankee's first visit to the Peach State--and I loved it! The people in Dahlonega, about an hour's drive north of Atlanta, were so friendly and multi-talented. For example, we met a gal who works at the visitor's center who is also ordained as a minster. A successful builder started a yummy seafood restaurant on the historic town square. A former lawyer opened up a sweet little B&B set in the woods called the Lily Creek Lodge.
Besides enjoying the company of the friendly, talented residents, there's tons to do in the area--from hiking and kayaking to gold panning and antiquing. Here's a piece I wrote on one Dahlonega resort that would make a great honeymoon locale or destination wedding spot:
Georgia Honeymoon -- Forrest Hills Mountain Resort
This charming mountain getaway is ideal for rest, relaxation and romance--and it's surprisingly affordable.
