I am remembering the tatting of Mary Maynard today. A tatter wrote to me trying to locate copies of Mary's books. Unfortunately, they are out of print.

I have always been very fond of this flower with the long picots interlaced.

Here Mary turned a simple butterfly pattern into a what looks to me like an Egyptian vulture pendant like that worn by King Tutankhamun. It just cries out for beads though.

Mary's Heart gives you practice in using beads and buttons in a tatting project. The joins to the center of the button will require extra care.

Workbasket Feb 1959 Collar trim & medallion This is teaching patterns as well as fun to do. This easy pattern works up into a sew on edging. The collar may also have a tatted medallion at the corners.
