Fancy Picot Flowers

I am remembering the tatting of Mary Maynard today. A tatter wrote to me trying to locate copies of Mary's books. Unfortunately, they are out of print.

Many of her patterns are listed in the files of the Online Tatting Class (which is free and fun for anyone.) Some of the links are written below for you to copy and paste into your browser.

Here Mary turned a simple butterfly pattern into a what looks to me like an Egyptian vulture pendant like that worn by King Tutankhamun. It just cries out for beads though.

Mary also had a great respect for the early tatters like Anne Orr. She did a study of her work based on the book. There are many techniques you can practice.
