I was actually shocked to see that some of the kids went back to school this week. Around here that does not usually happen until the fair week in the last part of August. But the local paper had the school supply list in the upcoming events column.
There the usual pencils (#2 only,) pens, paper, and notebooks, blunt-end scissors, and glue. Standard supplies but there in the back was tucked away a note about verifying that the glue was the "safe" edible kind. A few years ago that would have shocked me, too. But at one tatting workshop, we were making handkerchief "Church dollies." It was then that I learned that any toys for children must be stuffed with... yep, you guessed it, "edible cotton batting."
Tatters, too, are preparing for fall classes. Our fundraising quilt project turned out well for the Sept. Palmetto Tatting Guild Tat Days Sept. 7-10, 2018, at Toccoa, GA. Just take a peek.

Later in the same month is the Canadian Tatters Group, "The Fringe's" 13th tat weekend Sept 21 & 22 in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. We are all are thrilled to hear that Fringe has invited the famous tatter and master designer, Judith Connors, to make a return visit from Australia and are also very pleased to welcome Martha Ess, designer of many whimsical characters in her books, to their teaching roster. Many favorite tatting teachers are also returning with wonderful classes. You can find all you need to know at www.fringetatters.ca
In the Fringe Tatters July 1, 2018 newsletter was this "List of Advanced Tatting Techniques." Consider printing it off and using it for a study guide. There are tutorials for these topics posted here at BellaOnline.com.
