Knock Knock, it’s me popping in again to have a quick catch up. Hope all’s good for you and that you’re finding some time to get some quilting done.
Monday was our monthly gathering for Sunshine Linus and I guess the day was extra busy because we’re preparing for our first Quilt Show and Open Day at the end of August and so we’re amassing a huge handcrafted sales table for our guests as well as the many goodies that we make for the community.
Even though we are a non profit organisation, we need to raise funds to purchase batting for our quilts. Our volunteers use their own stash or the patchwork fabric we receive as donations from other quilters, but I think it’s too much to expect the ladies to purchase the batting. It is very expensive here in Australia. So any money that we receive goes towards purchasing batting so we can keep making the quilts and other comforts for our community.
So there’s a real buzz about at the moment, invitations have been sent (well most of them), brochures printed and distributed and all other manner of jobs have been ticked off. Lots more to do, but an exciting time for all, I can assure you.
We received a lovely photo and email from one of the Aussie soldiers in Afghanistan, thanking us for his quilt. Here’s the link to the Sunshine Linus blog so you can read what he had to say. Not a man of many words, but we were very chuffed just the same!! http://sunshinelinusgroup.blogspot.com.au/
Last week I posted the instructions for making the little gift wallets I mentioned a few weeks back. We ended up making about 270 for our Open day. Have fun making them – they can be used for all manner of goodies. Great little pouch for vouchers too! Here’s the link:

We’ve been having more chat on the forum and thanks go to the readers who have contributed with their three most helpful hints for quilters. If you’d like to share with us, here’s the link:
