2017 Palmettos Tat Days Tatting Scholarship Fundraiser

For the annual Palmettos Tatting Scholarship fundraiser this year we have prepared a number of baskets filled with tatting accessories, books, thread, needles, shuttles and treats. It will be either in the online raffle or the silent auction or the live after banquet auction during Tat Days 2017, September 7-10, Tocca GA, USA. "TAT-A-CON" All about tatting - all aspects, all moments, all stitches, all designs, all purposes, and all people.

Here are a few sample photos of the baskets being prepared. Nothing is final yet. I have added tatting to the outside for inspiration and tatting supplies inside, shuttles and/or needles, instructions and good ol' “stuff.”

There have been some last minute changes in the strawberry basket. It had some strawberry fabric with a strawberry red tatting shuttle, and a bottle of gooey jam, strawberry tea and biscuits. I realized the basket is too small. And, unfortunately, someone (nameless here forevermore) ate the jam. Luckily I bought several baskets this spring some of which were 25 Cents!!!!!. So the final basket will look a bit different. The tea and cookies are still there though!

And here is just a teaser peek at another gift container.

This oriental chest with brass fittings and carved flowers hides an assortment of vintage tatting shuttles as well as a new one or two, plus a set of 4 tatting needles with a fancy satin carrying case. A few oriental theme beads, a faux cinnabar pi and a square of jade (from Kobuk Mt. AK probably).

Tickets available at the event and online. Please see http://palmettotatters.org/ for details.

Here's the latest article from the Tatting site at BellaOnline.com.

Needleart 1921 edging #5 These patterns are from the "Needleart" magazine Vol.8 #3 published in 1921 on page 17 and continued on page 68. There are seven patterns of varying degrees of difficulties. The designs are intended for underwear but today's fashions would also be enhanced on outer wear as well. More this summer.
