Greetings Everyone -

It is July and hot here in Southern California. Last Tuesday was the first day of camp and we had vehicle problems again. Never fails every summer my minivan breaks down. It has been at Pep Boys for several days now while they wait for some bracket to come from OHIO. We are renting a car tomorrow to make life easier and they can still get to camp tomorrow since it is a bowling field trip.

Turns out the classes that Matt and Nick are in this summer will be going together on their trips. They both moved up a class this year and the transition was quite good with new rooms and teachers. It helps that a few other students moved along with them.

If anyone plans to visit Las Vegas this month, make sure you check out Tony Atwood at the Tropicana Hotel on Monday, July 23rd. The three hour workshop is on "Managing Anxiety and Anger". He will be available for an hour after the workshop to answer questions. It starts at 8:30 am, cost is $95.00. The attendees will get two copies of his books anda copy of teh DVD when it is finished. I have never attended the ASA national conference and would love to hear from anyone that has and what the child care was like and your experience. Maybe another year we will attempt to go, as long as a plane ride is not necessary. We prefer train rides.

I cut out an article from Family Circle the other day that is entitled, what kids need to know. It has the categories of food, money, clothes, house and car. I am going to try working on these with Nicholas as we homeschool in a few months.

Some of these include:

use microwave
cook a well balanced meal
know which kitchen tools and equipment to use for which tasks
use an ATM
keep track of important papers
do laundry
sew a button
fold clothes
pack a suitcase
hang a picture
use all household appliances
use a fire extinguisher
pump gas
check washer fluid and add more if necessary
