The annual gathering of tatters sponsored by the Palmetto Tatters Guild will have over 100 tatters and teachers in attendance this year. 107 tatters and 15 international tatting teachers are already registered. This event is the one that the Online Tatting Class and tatters everywhere support by raising money through a raffle drawing. The money raised is for the tatting scholarship fund. You may apply for a 2015 scholarship at: http://www.palmettotatters.org/

This year's quilts are outstanding. The theme this year was "Tatting, Tea and Toffee." So we chose a garden party flowers and vines motif for one quilt and a teapot, all things tea and toffee, honey, chocolate and candy for the second quilt. Martha Ess' "Tea is for Tatting" pattern book inspired us with teapot designs.

Each of the "Flowers and Vines" crazy quilt design blocks on this lovely piece were decorated with tatting and other embellishments by a different tatter. Of special note is the big focal block in the upper center with a large basket filled with flowers of every type. This was a joint effort by Sandy Cofer, Sue Hunt, "Bugsy" Carter, Elizabeth Convis and Patti Pollard.

And here is the "Tea Party" quilt. Decorated with tea pots large and small, jars and bars of candy, Japanese fans and Chinese characters to acknowledge the origins of tea, tea strainer, honey dipper and honey bees, this is a marvelous and unique piece of needle work and tatted lace.
