Hello again readers, welcome to another issue of the Quilters Quarters Newsletter coming from Bellaonline – the Voice of Women. You might recall a few months ago I reviewed a quilting book titled “Stupendous Stitching”. You might also remember that I was completely blown away with the concept and technique the author Carol Ann Waugh was presenting.

Well, to cut a long story down to size – I started my first Stupendous stitchery not long after I wrote that review and this week I have finished my first attempt. Stupendous Stitching is like nothing else I’ve done before and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed “play time”.

I am notoriously bad at following patterns, and don’t particularly like to be told there are rules to follow. What works for me with Stupendous is there’s no pattern as such and the only rule is: THERE’S NO RULES!!

I used a bright orange and pink fat quarter Batik from my stash and I found the whole process liberating to say the least. The only dilemma I had was knowing when it was the right time to stop. Some people might think this technique is similar to crazy patchwork, but it’s really very, very different.
