This week’s article is about Mammograms!

I discussed age and breast cancer risk factors. One of the risk factor is breast density. The more dense the tissue (not fatty tissue) in your breast, the more you are at risk.

Staying on a low-fat, however, is essential when it comes to breast health.
Fibrocystic conditions are common in lots of women, and very painful, so I am going to list some nutritional information for breast health, and also on cystic fibrosis.

To keep cystic fibrosis at bay:
Eat low-fat, avoid caffeine and alcohol; use low-salt, and eat a lot of high fiber food (bran cereal).
Drink lots of water to cleanse your system.
Vitamin A, B-6, E, and Iodine (from fish)

Evening Primrose Oil – has been used in Europe for ages. It helps balance the water and salt in the body, relieving symptoms of inflammation because of its diuretic effect. It is also known to relieve symptoms from menopause.

Vitamin A – 25,000-50,000 I.U daily; sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, spinach, dark green leafy veggies.
Iodine – 150 micrograms daily (from fish)
Vitamin – B-6; 150 I.U. daily (in 3 parts per day) bananas, or baking potato
Vitamin E – 600 I.U. daily; nuts, whole grains

New advice on mammogram testing was recently updated by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. However, several other well known cancer organizations stood by their previous recommendations, while still some adjusted theirs, although just slightly. What was the bottom line?
