I know Oprah Winfrey is a billionaire and has almost a cult following. But I ask myself, "Are her book recommendations any better than mine?" I think not. It doesn't take a genius to realize "Dr. Zhivago" is a great novel.
So, move over Oprah, while I share a few of my favorite picks with you, my Bellaonline.com Art Appreciation readers.
In my article, "Where Harry Potter and Bosch Coexist," I've recommended a fun, easy read for young adults, "Catherine, Called Birdy." It is the diary of a fourteen year old in the year 1290.
One of my most popular articles is, "Jesus in Religious Art." There I recommend a video, "The Face -- Jesus in Art." I watched this once on PBS TV and I was amazed at how they could computer generate the faces of Jesus as depicted over the ages.
In my article, "Caravaggio: Sinner or Artist Extraordinaire?" I recommend a book that is as close to any biography on this great artist, "M: The Man Who Became Caravaggio."
The next time you read one (or many) of my articles, take a look at the book, poster, or video recommendation. You may see something that tweaks your interest. I'm sure even Oprah receives an income from her book recommendations. Happy reading!
