Greetings, Folks everywhere, from Northern Nevada!
It is a gorgeous day here and hot! The nights are beginning to get a little chilly and more comfy for sleeping. I took a very long walk early this morning around the little mountain trail here and could see some early signs of autumn heading our way. Autumn is my favorite time of year. Leaves! I love the dry, crackling sound of leaves when the wind comes up and they blow around. Remember when you were a kid and you would help Dad or Mom rake up all those leaves, into a huge pile, then go jump in them and roll around laughing? That was so fun! Then you had to get up and rake them up again. Awwww! the joys of childhood. If I could jump still I would do it again. Trouble is, I cannot seem to get both feet off the ground at once anymore! And once I fall down on the ground, I can't get up! I roll pretty good, though.

I just finished a new article about the life and times of Jistin Time. It is a followup to the article I wrote back in July called ,i>Jistin And The Dogwood Tree. Watch for the new segment to come out on Monday, September 1. Seems ol' Jistin has now got hisself a right fine big family! You can read the first article about him at http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art7143.asp Look for the next article on Monday to see what he is up to now.

We have some pretty good times in the Folklore Forum. Come join the Front Porch Folk and join in on the fun! Right now, we got ourselves a pretty good ol' time folk group hopping on the porch with banjos, jugs, spoons playin', dancin', singin' and of course the cider barrel is always full - so, bring your mug and join in! It would be so fun to really do this, but imagining is almost as fun.

Planning on getting together with the folks in your community this fall for a good ol' hoedown? Better start preparing your old time recipes for all that good food! Here is one recipe for some Spiced Apple Cider to go with all them good fixins':
Combine 2 cups apple cider and spices that you have tied up in small muslin bags (cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves to taste, don't over do that) in a large dutch oven. Bring just to a boil and then turn the heat down to simmer - simmer for about 10 minutes. Add more cider and heat on low till very hot, but do not boil! Serve in large mugs with a cinnamon stick in each.

Till next time, May your home be filled with laughter and may it reach from floor to rafter.
Walk in Beauty and Harmony.
