I wanted to apologize for my silence this summer. What with my new book being released and having book signings each week and I've started a new Gift Shop (http://shop.evelyn-rainey.com) and just summer-stuff, I had to let some things go. I had even thought about giving up this column and allowing someone with more time to take it over. This Veterans Column deserves to be fresh and vital and relevant to everyone of you who read it. However, I love writing this column, so I decided that I wasn't ready to step aside yet.
I plan to remedy my negligence with a new article this Thursday. I'm starting a new series, "When the World Tells You" as an encouragement to veterans who face obstacles and criticisms each day with seemingly no where to turn.
I'm hoping these articles will be helpful to most of you. Some of you may not like these articles. I don't know unless you email me.
So please look forward to my renewed articles beginning this Thursday.
Here's the last article from the Veterans site at BellaOnline.com.
The Significance of the Poppy
The poppy is associated with service to one’s country and is used to commemorate those who died fighting for their county. If you are from a generation after WWII, you may recognize the symbol but have you given much thought as to why that particular flower was used?
