ADD Medication Improves Parenting Skills

With my ADD, I found that it is really, truly difficult to be consistent in parenting. The details just seem to slide in and out of my focus. That's why it was especially hard to see the parents of some of my students struggle with their parenting skills. A long time, a lot of hard work, trying to be mindful, and a ton of luck helped us with our kids. Other folks weren't so fortunate.
Parenting kids with Attention Deficit Disorder can be a tough job, especially if the parent also has ADD. A new study from the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center states that "Parenting skills improve in ADHD parents with medication." They studied the effects of lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse).
