August 9 2006 Pediatrics Newsletter

Hi Everyone!

With August about half way over, there is no denying that a new school year will be soon upon us, and sooner for some than for others. To help with the transition, ease back into a school-like bedtime and wake-up routine as the first day of school approaches. Sometimes just needing to set the alarm takes practice after so much carefree time.

There is a great deal of new material on the Pediatrics site. Here's a link to the latest article:

Talking to Kids about War
With the world being so unsettled, talking to kids about war is almost unavoidable. This article talks about the general considerations as well as pitfalls to avoid.

The Forum has been very active with some very interesting conversations on infant head size, immunizations, shopping cart safety and the impact of wrestling on kids. Stop by and check out the latest threads and feel free to give your 2cents. One of the best aspects of the Forum is the sharing of ideas among so many parents. Even if your situation is different, there is huge value in knowing what others are experiencing.

Finally, as you ease back into another school year, I've put together a list of resources on my web site, Pediatrics Now. My September issue will have much more practical information but this list will help you dust off a few cobwebs:http://www.pediatricsnow.com/this_months_tips_tools.html

Enjoy the remainder of the summer. I'll touch base again just after Labor Day.

Best,
