Hi Vicki here,
I had an interesting conversation with a friend last week about whether or not we should label children with special needs which is the topic of this weeks article. In fact the conversation extended beyond that into the realms of - Should we really be labelling anyone? How does labelling any child influence their future?
Should we be Labelling Children with Special Education Needs?

We’ve all been labelled at some point in our lives. So what labels have you been given when you were younger and how does it affect you now?
I’d love to hear from you either via email or through the forum. This is definitely a hot topic for me!
In the news:
The Children’s Parliamentary Minister in the UK has stated that she believes that parents should be given more choice when deciding which school their child with special needs attends. Sarah Teather has stated that she wants to “completely overhaul and streamline assessments”.
I really hope Ms Teather follows through on this, otherwise we’ll have many more casualties, (children, parents and teachers) as a result of our struggling special education system.
