Many donations for the scholarship fundraiser were brought in the night before and some learned to tat a design of a fleur de lis while others were still registering. The first morning's registration was punctuated by many glad cries of recognition as tatters greeted each other. Studying the goodie package class handouts and preparing for class was broken up by happy reunions.
The jam-packed sales room with our main vendor, the new Tatting Corner with Lisa Adams was like a Kriskindelmarkt with "toys" for every tatter. The teachers also had tatting goodies such as shuttles, beads, hand-dyed threads, tatted jewelry, books and hooks to tempt us.
The theme this tat days was "Tat-A-Con" and it was out of this world! Tonya Smith even designed a tatted spaceship complete with a bubble dome for us. Linda Reiff designed the fleur-de-lis pattern and Harolah Cheser shared her tusker elephant with us, too. Martha Ess adapted it to work without beads. And Muskaan shared her "Noorjahan's Rubies" parure set of necklace, bracelet, and ring. Every one sharing and caring, a true tatter's reunion.

On this part there is a line of opposing rings. The upper rings are cupping over the top of the gem while the lower rings fold under the bottom of the gem at the chain line. Two less rings make this a snug fit.
These following chains are worked clockwise from the front side. The chains of the second row attach to both the upper and lower rings with a Catherine Wheel join to enhance the smooth curve of the work. The second row of chains have the bead at the mid point. Note there is a picot needed between the two half stitches of the join.
The third chain joins to the picot noted above and curves gracefully over the beaded chain.
