Greetings Everyone and Happy Labor Day Weekend -
I apologize for not having a newsletter for the last two weeks. Between the broken mouse, slow dial up connections and school starting it has been hard to get an article completed.
Matthew has been in school since mid August and Nicholas goes back in two days. I will be writing more about school issues in the days to come and reviewing some products.
I ordered a book I mentioned in my article on the resources from the CAN walk a thon back in April. I will be reviewing it after going through it and trying out some of the activities, but this is a great resource to start the school year out with.
It is called Recipe Handbook of Easy to Use Activities for Teaching autistic children and is available at http://www.reachpublications.com
It is a spiral bound book for thirty dollars via paypal. This is a wonderful visual tool with lots of examples and diagrams to help guide parents and teachers.
I started an interactive group, http://autismfamilies.gather.com. This site awards points for joining groups, creating groups, commenting on articles and images, posting images, rating articles and getting comments on your articles.
You can share photos of your kids and add to the discussion on what your child perseverates on

The points can be turned in for Barnes and Noble gift cards, stating at $10 for 625 points. If you can get 3000 points in any given month you can opt for cash through paypal or a check ($50). I prefer to get the gift cards and have accumulated since August 6th 3200 points, which is worth $50 or more in gift cards. Make sure you join http://autismfamilies.gather.com to post images and articles.
This is a way for me to get my kids some items for the holidays and a great site with lots of groups in a wide variety of interests. I started an Autism Families Book exchange and listed the books I have available for anyone to borrow.
