Today is 09/09/09, which in many cultures is an especially auspicious date.

In Feng Shui the number 9 is associated with long life because the Mandarin word for "9" sounds like the word for "long-lasting.”

From wedding couples, to Apple Computer, to movie studios, people are celebrating this date in their own unique way.

In Florida, one county clerk's office is offering a one-day wedding special for $99.99 for the many couples who want to be married on this date. Apple Computer has moved their traditional Tuesday release day to Wednesday to take advantage of the special date. Focus Features is releasing their new animated film “9” today.

This calendar quirk won't come around again until September 2109, so take advantage and do something today that involves the number 9. Here’s one Feng Shui idea -- buy 9 beautiful oranges today and display them in your kitchen as a symbol of health, vitality, and good fortune.
