November 5 2006 Autism Spectrum Disorders Newsletter

Greetings Everyone -

I wanted to share some resources I have found. In today's Parade magazine is a note about obtaining a free 64 page guide from Plan for your health and Aetna. It is called Navigating Your health benefits for dummies. There is even a link to click on for getting more than one copy:

Go to the middle of the screen and click on sign up now link.

I just found this site that offers online mentoring and consulting, whether it be on communication needs or just information regarding autism. Joanne M. Cafiero, Ph.D is the author of a book called Meaningful Exchanges for People with autism. The cover of the book seen on this site and available along with other books, shows a white communication box similar to the Cheap Talk my son Matthew utilizes.

I am going to order her book with my next paycheck as it looks very useful.

Starting today on The Science Channel is the Real Rainman story on Kim Peek. It will be airing other times and you have the option to set a TV reminder with the site:

For the kids who are Dinosaur lovers Animal Planet is airing today and tonight Prehistoric Park -

Here is a link to get free trading cards for your child:

I joined another site last week where you get points that turn into cash for posting questions and images. If you care to join to earn some spending money for the holidays, please do so here:

I got a copy from amazon yesterday of Understanding Autism For Dummies and think it will be a good book to get relatives as a holiday gift. I hope to read portions of it soon so I can review it on the site.
