The third annual PBA World Series of Bowling is in the books and beginning Sunday, Dec. 4, ESPN will provide millions of bowling fans with nationally-televised coverage of the PBA Tour during the 2011-12 season.

The PBA Tour’s new television season, which includes 18 Sunday telecasts, will begin with a “doubleheader” on Dec. 4 with the men’s and women’s World Bowling Tour Finals presented by the PBA airing in back-to-back one-hour segments. The PBA-ESPN season will conclude with the live finals of the PBA Tournament of Champions from Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 15.

Supplementing the ESPN telecasts,’s exclusive Xtra Frame online bowling channel will provide
pre- and post-tournament coverage of events as well as start-to-finish coverage of four new Xtra Frame Tour events during the season. For Xtra Frame subscription information click on the Xtra Frame logo on the homepage.

Turbo 2-N-1 Grips will present the Turbo Mark Roth-Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Selection Show on Xtra Frame leading into the ESPN telecast of the finals of that event on Sunday, March 25. The special “draft” of doubles partners will be webcast at no cost on’s Xtra Frame online bowling channel, YouTube and

The selections show will feature PBA Tour Commissioner Tom Clark and PBA Hall of Famer Mark Roth, along with Jackie Bowling interviewing all of the team members. The show also will include highlights of action from the PBA World Series of Bowling plus interviews with Turbo 2-N-1 President Lori Tessmar and/or company representative Bob Learn Jr.

Players who qualified for the Mark Roth-Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championship include, in qualifying order, Ronnie Russell, Marion, Ind.; Wes Malott, Pflugerville, Texas; Andres Gomez, Colombia; Mike Fagan, Dallas; Martin Larsen, Sweden; Bill O'Neill, Southampton, Pa.; Ryan Ciminelli, Cheektowaga, N.Y.; Sean Rash, Montgomery, Ill.; Pete Weber, St. Ann, Mo.; Jason Couch, Clermont, Fla.; Norm Duke, Clermont, Fla.; Jason Belmonte, Australia; Dick Allen, Columbia, S.C.; Dan MacLelland, Saginaw, Mich.; Mike Scroggins, Amarillo, Texas, and Mike DeVaney, Murrieta, Calif.


Mike Dias of Lafayette, Colo., defeated Kurt Gengelbach of Carrollton, Texas, 278-183, to win the joint PBA Southwest/West Region Farmington Open at Bowlero Lanes in Farmington, N.M., Sunday, Nov. 20.

The title was Dias’ third “first” in PBA competition this year. In April, he won his first PBA Senior Tour title in Winter Garden, Fla., In October he won his first PBA Senior Regional title in Junction City, Kan., and his win in Farmington was his first in standard PBA Regional competition. He also earned $2,500.

In Laurel, Del., Sam Maccarone of Sewell, N.J., started the championship match with the 10 strikes on his way to a 289-182 victory over Kent Wagner of Palmetto, Fla., in the PBA East Region’s Bryan’s Bowling Center Senior Open presented by The Insurance Market on Sunday. The win was Maccarone’s 13th in regional competition, but his first in more than a year. The three-time East Region Senior Player of the Year earned $1,800.

The only PBA Regional activity over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend will be the PBA Southwest Region’s Beaumont Open at Crossroads Bowling Center in Beaumont, Texas. And over the Dec. 2-4 weekend, the only activity is the PBA South Region Surfside Open at Surfside Lanes in Surfside Beach, S.C.
