The month of February is Black History Month. I received the following email and thought I would pass it along:

CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH A MILLION TIMES

There is a handsome, fashionably dressed African American couple waiting
at www.OurBlackAncestry.com. The image has been posted as part of a
marketing research exercise to find out how interested African American
people are in family history/genealogy. The information will be used to
create a website specifically designed to enable black people to do family
history research easily and affordably. It is possible that the site will
also offer related services, such as photo preservation and sharing,
forums and family reunion planning.

Based on the incredible success of genealogical websites and television
programs like "African American Lives" with Dr. Henry Louis Gates, the
creators of the website believe "There is a huge market for a research and
sharing facility specifically geared toward the average, everyday African
American family." The site will grow over time to meet community needs.
However, right now, they are asking that people log onto the site to
participate in the survey -- which is FREE and does not involve any
commitment.

The goal is to generate one million hits over the 28 days of Black History
Month 2007 - proving once and for all just how interested African
Americans are in knowing about their history.

The survey is part of the Family Research Project of the Center for
African American Archival Preservation based in Atlanta, GA.
