I'd like to take a moment to urge everyone to please support their local public libraries. Many towns have been forced to make significant budget cuts which affect the libraries. Close to my home, two favorite libraries have been forced to close an extra day each week, downsize staff, and trim their already modest allowance for new materials. What can you do to help? I'd like to suggest that you consider making a small donation, volunteering some time, or even just writing a note of appreciation to the librarians. Even the youngest kids can help out with this! Public libraries are valuable resources in our communities. Please take the time to let them know that you care.
