Higher education is feeling the sting of the economic downturn. Consequently, many schools are making tough decisions regarding financial aid, campus activities, etc. Recently, Olin College of Engineering announced that there policy of providing full tuition scholarship to every member of the student body has reached an end, at least for now. Starting this fall, the scholarship is reduced by 50%. I'm sure this sort of news will affect many gifted high school students. I urge college bound students and their parents to inquire closely about financial policies so they can make informed decisions about applications.
