Knock knock, hello there, just me popping in to say hello and leave some little pressies for you.
It’s early morning here about 30 degrees Celsius and the bird bath is doing a roaring trade! I often find myself sitting for lengthy periods watching the goings on at our local spa for birds. The other day I was given a rather hilarious show by two magpies. These are native birds to Australia and they have attitude.
The magpie is notorious for swooping unsuspecting and unprotected heads during the nesting season, and also for their beautiful ability to sing wonderful melodic sounds. Just like a mature opera singer they have a certain amount of chest puffing attitude.
Anyway, the other day two of the magpies landed on the grass in front of the two birdbaths we have which are about 6 feet from each other on either side of a stone stair leading to the bottom level. Well, both jumped onto the birdbaths (one each) splashed about and make lots of noise, then jumped off, swapped over and did the same thing in the other bird bath.
This tag team carried on for four times, then they few away!! I have no idea why they felt they needed to try both bird baths, not once but four times! Perhaps they’re writing a review on the watering holes of the suburb!!
Last week, as a result of a request from a reader, I sourced some free boys quilt and block patterns from the web. Here’s the link: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art182628.asp
