February 15 2011 Quilting Newsletter

It’s the middle of the week and time for me to say hello to all the Bellaonline Quilt site subscribers to my Quilters Quarters newsletter.

Did you know that there are approximately 3,380 subscribers who receive my newsletter every week? That’s a lot of quilters and they come from all around the globe. I am so grateful to each and every one of you for taking the time out of your busy lives to enjoy a little fellowship with other quilters.

I taught my first class for 2011 on Monday. It’s an advanced needle turn appliqué quilt class with a twist. The quilt is called Floriade and as it suggests is a floral appliqué. The central block, which is about 24” wide, and placed on point, consists of a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The twist is, the student gets to design her own bouquet, using some of my templates for roses, pansies, hollyhocks and daisies and lots of leaf designs, and some of her own flower choices.

I love presenting this class, as I see the student’s blossom over the four or so months of the class. At the first lesson, there’s that tentative “but I’ve never done anything like this before” to the last lesson, “outta my way, I’ve got a design in my head!!”. I love to be part of this incredible growth and spreading of wings amongst quilters who are open to learning new things.

On Sunday I posted the last of three articles on the Block of the Months I’ve sourced from the web for your interest. These BOM’s are commercially offered, so there is a cost involved. Here’s the link:

In a few weeks, I’ll start my articles on free BOM’s that I’ve found – believe me there’s a zillion of them!

I’ve had a request for a pattern from a new Bellaonline reader, which I have posted on the forum this morning. Here’s the link – pop over and see if you are able to help her out.

So, onto my little pressies for this week. I’m endeavouring to offer lots of variety in the links and I hope you enjoy the selection this week.

Well, dear friends, I’m off to the shops, to get some food supplies and work out the miracle that will be tonight’s meal! Hope all’s well at your place and save some time this week to do a little quilting, even if it’s only flipping through a quilt book. Look after yourself.

Cheerio for now
