Hi all, another week zips by and it’s Quilters Quarters Newsletter day once more.
I’ve just been catching up on the world news, and I’m reminded that it is one year today since the tragic earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand. It’s hard to believe that one year has past, and easy to forget when you’re so far from the disaster.
But I guess that it’s not so for those that are living with it day in and day out. I want to send my sincere best wishes to all our readers in New Zealand, especially those that have been majorly affected in Christchurch. We are thinking of you guys.
Did you know that it is National Quilting Day (in the US) on the third Saturday in March? I like the idea of having a day to celebrate everything that has to do with quilting. I’m not aware of anything like that anywhere else in the world. Certainly, not here in Oz. I’ll pose that question on the forum to hopefully find out if other quilters from other parts of the world are celebrating a National Quilting Day.
For me, every day is Quilting Day. I live, eat and breathe quilting. It is my first crafting love and will remain so forever.
Last weekend I spent the two days with the most incredible quilters from all over the country. It was the Australian National Council of Quilters annual conference and I was very privileged to oversee the proceedings as Chair Person. What a fantastic opportunity to see the wheels in motion, and witness the coming together of six state and three territory quilting guilds for the greater good of all quilters. I’m still bouncing off the walls from my experience. What a buzz!!
Last week I posted a review on a fabulous book titled, Slice ‘em and Dice ‘em Quilts. This is a really good book and worth having in your craft library. Here’s the link to that article: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art174292.asp
Pop over to the forum to answer a question from a reader. Here’s the link: http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/747512/National_Quilt_Day_2012#Post747512
