February 5 2008 Quilting Newsletter

Hello everyone, here's your weekly newsletter from Quilting at BellaOnline.

Well, this week I've been very busy getting into my current quilt project. I decided that 2008 was going to be the year I entered into a few quilt shows. I haven't made a "major" quilt project for a year or two, so I'm making the time this year. I will have to have my quilt projects finished by August, ready for delivery. The brief I gave myself for this current one was to do some small piecing that required strict accuracy and I wanted to use as much of my own fabric as possible. I commenced a couple of days after Christmas. I've made eight pieced blocks in the feathered star pattern (or a version of); 12" blocks containing 1" half square triangles. I'm now concentrating on appliqué blocks, 12 in all. I'm loving the challenge and try to set two hours a day aside specifically for this project. I'll keep you posted with my progress.

I send out a newsletter to Quilters Quarters Newsletter subscribers every Wednesday to keep you up to date with my website topics and the subjects that are being discussed. Over the last 3 weeks I had posted two articles about dealing with UFO's. I had a huge response in the forum, with 8 responses, and about 586 people come to the forum to read the responses. That's fantastic!! It shows that UFO's are one of the MAJOR issues for quilters. I hope my articles and the responses from readers helped those quilters in Quiltland to better deal with their UFO's in a way that suits them best.

So to this weeks posting - I am talking about Time to Quilt. One of the most popular complaints I hear from quilters in my every day meandering amongst cottage groups and guilds, is that the quilter finds it hard to get time to quilt.

You know, if you wait for the time to make itself available for quilting, it will never happen. You've got to set aside specific time for quilting. Set appointments for your passion. Have a read of my article for some hints and ideas of how to make the time. Here's the link to the article:

I've posted a forum about getting time to quilt and I'd love to hear what you do to make sure you get the time you need to do your quilting through the week.

My gift to you this week, is in time for Valentine's Day which is next Thursday. I found some interesting Valentines sayings you may be able to use, when communicating with your special Valentine.

Valentine Views

It takes more then lace and ribbons,
And lovely verses too,
To make a Valentine that's nice enough for you.
It takes a world of special thoughts,
Tucked into every line,
And that's exactly what you'll find inside this Valentine.

If you love someone, put their name in a circle, instead of a heart, because hearts can break, but circles go on forever.

Love is like playing the piano. First you must learn to play by the rules, then you must forget the rules and play from your heart.

It takes a minute to have a crush on someone, an hour to like someone and a day to love someone but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Love has more to do with letting go than holding on.
