Quilting

June 17 2014 Quilting Newsletter

Hello again, another Wednesday comes around the corner, so it’s my time to bring you some more news and goodies.

I’ve been knitting slipper socks and fingerless mittens during our chilly nights (chilly means cold enough to have a fire going, but we don’t have heating in our house). So put more clothes on and keeping those fingers busy. For the first time, I’m starting to suffer a little bone, muscle, joint pain and I suspect it’s because I’m getting on in years and the old body is slowly packing up! I won’t let that deter me, though, and I will continue to knit.

I’m planning to research exercises that I can do to improve my hands and joint flexibility, and thus continue to knit! These knitted items go to the Renal Dialysis units around the state to comfort the patients who undergo dialysis. Apparently the extremities of dialysis patients can become extremely cold and sometimes these patients are going through treatments that last at least 3-4 hours. Perhaps I’ll put this taking care of joints research into an article for everyone to share.

Last week I posted my weekly article on Bellaonline and it’s all about the clothing protectors (bibs) that we make for people in nursing homes. We try to make them fun and colourful. Here’s the link to that article: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art183520.asp

Don’t forget the forum is there for you to have your say. Here’s the link:
