July 11 2012 Quilting Newsletter

Coooeee, it’s just me popping in again on this cold and rainy Wednesday here in Brisbane Australia.

After I wrote my newsletter last week and commented on the wonderful weather my American subscribers were having for Fourth of July day, I nearly fell over when I heard the news reports about the most devastating weather you guys have been experiencing. And I understand that it’s not over yet. Some of you have been without power for ages and that must be awful with such high temperatures. I’m so sorry that you’re suffering in this way. I really hope the weather pattern changes for the better for you all. Group hug!!

I had a great day at Queensland Quilters monthly gathering on Tuesday. We had a guest speaker and it was Jenny Bowker. Jenny has had a very interesting life as a diplomat’s wife, and has travelled to many intriguing parts of the Middle East. Her quilting is exceptional and she told us some great stories whilst showing us her most outstanding quilts. Here’s a link to her site if you’d like to see what she’s up to: http://www.jennybowker.com/quilts/

I posted another article highlighting children’s story books that have a focus on quilting. These books are simply beautiful and it’s a comprehensive listing if you’re looking for some for your children’s library. Here’s the link:mhttp://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art176821.asp

We’ve had an interesting query from one of our readers about Walking Feet and the issue of sticking. I’ve answered it as best I can, but if you have something to add, please pop over to the forum and have your say. Here’s the link:
