I had the most wonderful experience last Friday. I travelled about one and a half hours west of Brisbane to the little township of Toogoolawah, where I presented some families with weighted blankets, touchy feely quilts and bags etc for their ASD children.
What a lovely bunch of people I met that day. Everyone was very positive and appreciative of the goodies Sunshine Linus was able to donate to them.
Some of these families sometimes have more than one child that suffers from ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and I’m guessing at times the children’s behaviour can be sometimes “challenging”, but I saw so much love and consideration for others coming from this group of parents – I felt quite humbled by the experience.
To top the afternoon off I was asked to transport a little micro-bat in his protective cage to another township on my way home, to be cared for by a trained bat handler. I considered myself very honoured to be asked to perform this important task for the caring group of Toogoolawah.
