The Zulus have been in the spotlight in South Africa as the elections in 2014 draw closer as the current president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, is a Zulu. The Zulus are probably the most well-known southern African tribe, so this little series is a tribute to them.

The Zulus make up about 22% of the population of South Africa and the language is spoken across the country. Their history stretches back for centuries but their name 'Zulu' first appeared in oral tradition in the 1620s.
