Happy Holidays to all folks near and far.

Trifle and Tipsy Cake - Recipes
Trifle is often preferred as a Christmas dessert instead of the much heavier Christmas Pudding. Trifle is so pretty when carefully layered in a large trifle bowl that it is often used as a centerpiece on a buffet or the dinner table.

The tipsy cake was a favorite in the old days, to try and serve to the visiting Parson on Sundays to see if he would eat it -- because of that, the cake is often called "Tipsy Parson Cake".

I am going to start a new feature in my newsletter and call it "PatchIt Corner". It will be for any reader who would like to share a recipe or a short story about holidays, family, Appalachian living, etc. Any submissions will be carefully edited and approved by me. Just email me at my Appalachia site (see below), and if I approve the submission, I will "Patch It" into the newsletter.
