Are you familiar with Clarence Darrow? He certainly was an American original! He was proud to be called an agnostic as he felt, as I do, that it is a rational and reasonable position to live by. He was very opinionated, direct, and quotable. Two of his quotes that are among my favorites are "I don't believe in God because I don't believe in Mother Goose" and "lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for."
