Here in Alaska, there is a term that a lot of people don't know. That term is "Termination Dust". Termination dust is the first snow fall on the mountains. According to some people it's because it's the sign of termination of summer, others say it showed when seasonal jobs were about to be terminated. I'm not sure which it is. But surrounded by mountains as we are, we know that when the termination dust is halfway down the mountain, it means it's going to snow soon in Anchorage.
It's very nearly halfway down the mountains now, so winter looks to be coming quickly up here. A good time for shawls and scarves. *brr*
