September 15 2010 Buddhism Newsletter

Hi all,

I have three wonderful things to share with you this week - 2 new articles, and an inspiring new online spiritual mentoring course for women called 'Buddha Chick', run by a friend of mine.

First about the course: Jan Lundy, an interfaith spiritual director/mentor with a strong Buddhist background and focus, is offering a new online course and mentoring program for women everywhere who want to explore their inner 'Buddha Chick'. I know Jan and cannot recommend her highly enough. You can learn more about the course here:

Also, I have two new articles up this week, a book review and an overview of Vipassana. Enjoy!

Review of Pocket Peace
Subtitled 'Effective Practices for Enlightened Living', this lovely book offers accessible and practical guidance for practicing the ten Buddhist 'paramitas' or perfections, in everyday life. The author's background is interfaith, and no prior Buddhist knowledge is required.

Vipassana or Insight Meditation
Vipassana means 'insight into reality' and is a method of meditation focused on observing the mind, rather than concentrating it, in order to discover the roots of thoughts and sensations.

I hope to hear from you sometime soon, either in the forum or in response to this email message. I thrive on your feedback!

In Peace,
