Elect Susie
It seems like every time you turn around someone else is announcing a run for the presidency in 2008. But this announcement caught my attention because Susie Flynn is only ten years old and she is running for president.

The Military Readiness Enhancement Act
Since the implementation in 1993 of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, eleven thousand gay and lesbian soldiers have been dismissed under the law. Can the military afford to loose two to three qualified service members a day because of this law?

Prosecutorial Purges
Last year congress passed a little noticed provision in the patriot act that gave the U.S. attorney general the authority to appoint interim U.S. attorneys indefinitely without Senate approval. What has happened since this provision was passed is prosecutorial purges at an unprecedented rate.

Foreign Adoptions
There are many reasons Americans pursue foreign adoptions. If the Congress ratifies The Hague Convention, then adoptions from countries not complying with the terms of the convention would be banned and Americans may find foreign adoptions no longer easier and cheaper than domestic adoptions.

The U.S. Mint has issued a new dollar coin. It features President George Washington and is to be the first of a series of dollar coins featuring presidents. Modeled after the very successful statehood quarters program, a new president’s coin will be released every three months.
