It can decrease foot and leg swell, improve posture, etc. On the other hand, sometimes they just get in the way.

Footrests can be useful tools in the office. They can decrease stress on the back and swelling in the feet. This article looks at how to choose a footrest and at the pros and cons of putting on at your desk.
