Our newsletter, All That Glitters, is named after one of the most frequently misquoted phrases. The original phrase is "All that GLISTERS is not gold" and comes from Shakespeare's Merchant Of Venice. The majority of people now misuse it, replacing the archaic verb 'glister' with the much more understandable 'glitter', and since the two words actually mean the same thing, the modification works. It means, of course, that something may not be as wonderful as it seems to be.
Well, here at the Jewelry Collecting site, we believe that all jewelry in its myriad of forms and techniques, and regardless of its market value, is wonderful to the person who collects it, therefore "All that glitters truly is gold." With that in mind, I try to bring you articles about a wide variety of jewelry, for example, our newest series, Jewelry Shopping Showcase. We're just getting started this year, but it will be an annual series starting at the beginning of September and running through to Christmas Eve. It includes articles, interviews, product reviews, and product galleries designed to give you a handy resource for holiday gift-giving, and for adding to your own collections. Each online store featured is one with whom I have personally shopped and highly recommend, or know through interviews and customer testimonials to offer great products, and outstanding customer service.
