Horse Talk
If you want to discuss Barbaro's devastating accident in the Preakness, come join us at the forums. I am glad he is on the mend and may have a future as a stallion.

Adoption Link of the Week
In light of Barbaro's breakdown in the Preakness, I am dedicating the Adoption Link this week to the Thoroughbred. The sad fact of racing is that only 10% of horses even make it to adoption centers. The rest? The truth is heartbreaking; yes, the slaughterhouse. Even famous stallions like Ferdinand end up at the abattoir. The best thing we can do is raise awareness among horse owners and lovers everywhere about alternatives to slaughter, and then help those who manage to be rescued. The Exceller Fund is a valid non-profit organization dedicated to these ends. Please give them a visit; they sell clothing, books and stuffed animals to help these beautiful animals the racing industry no longer wants.

As we await further news of Barbaro's progress, I'll be preparing more articles and gathering more information to share with you on safe riding. I hope to hear from you sometime soon, either in the forum or in response to this email message. In the meantime, saddle up, and take good care. ;-)
