November 29 2006 Mystery Movies Newsletter

Greetings Mystery Movie Lovers,

Fallen is one of those over-looked films. It falls into several genres, mystery/detective, supernatural, etc. I missed the title and the first few critical minutes of this film while channel surfing television on one of my ‘can’t sleep’ nights. I searched for the title and bought it.

*Fallen (1998)* Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Donald Sutherland
Fallen is the kind of movie that those who absolutely do not believe in the supernatural, think, “Well maybe.”

I do hope you were able to catch the last of the Jane Tennison series. *Prime Suspect - PBS Finale November 2006* with Helen Mirren as Detective Superintendent Jane Tennison, earlier this month. If not try to catch on the re-runs.

There is a new film out about conflict diamonds also called blood diamonds, coming the first week of December, 2006. The title is “Blood Diamond” and stars Leonard DiCaprio and Jennifer Connelly. It sounds pretty good. In Pierce Bronsnan‘s *James Bond - Die Another Day* these illegal diamonds are the subject of the film. See my review for a link on the subject of real confict/blood diamonds and what is being done about the issue.

*Reviews of Movie Classics*

Rear Window (1954) James Stewart, Grace Kelly
A restless professional photographer confined to a wheel chair because of a broken leg suspects that a murder has been committed. But can he prove it? Pure Hitchcock. With nothing to do and limited visitors Jeffries spends his time looking out of his apartment rear window and into the windows of his neighbors. As he looks, he finds himself drawn into their lives.
