July 10 2008 Romance Novels Newsletter

Hello, and welcome back! Trying to stay cool has me spending much of my non-working time indoors, which means plenty of reading time. I've worked my way through a fair number of the July releases already, though I still have a fair number to go.

And if you haven't stopped by the main site lately, you've missed out on the July reviews so far...like Mystic Rider by Patricia Rice, Hard As Nails from HelenKay Dimon, Sea Witch by Virginia Kantra, Master of Surrender from Karin Tabke, Death Angel, the latest great romantic suspense from Linda Howard, and Italian Stallions with stories from Jami Alden and Karin Tabke. I have a couple more waiting for next week, and am very much looking forward to several more here in my July stack, like Suzanne Brockmann's new one, and Eve Kenin's new fantasy.

Dorchester Publishing is sponsoring a contest for readers to create costumes based on their favorite Dorchester romance novels characters. Want to dress up as a heroine from one of their fantasies or historicals? Maybe a futuristic? You can find more info on their website. The deadline is September 1, 2008, so if this sounds like fun to you, now would be a good time to check it out.

For those of you who remember reading Georgette Heyer when you were younger, you can rejoice: Sourcebooks is still re-releasing more of her works. The Regency is still alive and well in Heyer's reprints if nowhere else.

After our last newsletter went out, I got an email from a very nice lady in Tennessee. She is in charge of getting care packages to troops from her area who have been deployed to other parts of the world. I know romance readers are always incredibly generous, so I told her I'd share her request for books to be included in the care packages. If you're interested in helping Misty out, drop me an email, and I'll put you in touch with her.

If you haven't stopped by the forum lately, you missed a couple of good giveaways last month. I haven't done any yet for this month, however, so if you're interested in free goodies, you might want to think about it. Plus you can talk books with other romance readers.

Until next time, happy reading and writing!
