July 13 2010 Romance Novels Newsletter

Hello, and welcome back! Summer has arrived here in a big way, forcing us indoors to avoid the heat and humidity. Fortunately, there is almost always a teetering stack of books here on the corner of my desk, so, between the reading and the writing, I have plenty to keep me busy when I'm not at work.

If you've been keeping busy, too, you may have missed some of the reviews posted in the last few weeks. The June reviews included Fade to Midnight, Shut Up and Kiss Me, Beast Behaving Badly, Masked by Moonlight, Stroke of Genius, and Knight of Passion. The first of the July reviews are up, with The Homecoming, and Maid for the Millionaire. I'm aiming to get a couple more posted before this week is over as well, as I have several waiting while I've moved on to some other releases in my reading. There are some terrific looking books still in my stack, too, and I'm looking forward to getting to them.

If you haven't stopped by the forum lately, I haven't yet done our July book giveaway, so you might want to keep an eye out there for that. If you're not registered to participate in discussions (and giveaways!) yet, it's quick and free. Then you can chat with other readers about the books you're reading even when the giveaway's done for the month. You may also want to drop by this forum as well, to talk books. We have someone there right now looking for a phrase related to her romance reading.

For our paranormal romance readers, some sneak peeks at covers on upcoming books by some terrific authors.... Kresley Cole's new installment in her 'Immortals After Dark' series will be out next month, and the cover is gorgeous. You can see it and read a little of the story here. Also, Virginia Kantra continues her 'Children of the Sea' series in September and you can see the cover for Immortal Sea here. You can also find an excerpt from her story in the upcoming anthology Burning Up here. Personally, I'm looking forward to all of those.

For the writers among us, registration is underway for the fabulous annual conference that New Jersey Romance Writers always organize. The speaker list is amazing, as always. If you're not a writer, well, there's still the booksigning at the end of the conference that is open to the public. If it's not up yet, there will be a list of all the authors participating in that signing soon. It's a great way to meet some of your faves and to find new must-buy authors.

Finally, if you're in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania, the Lancaster Borders Books is starting to host a Romance Readers' Discussion Group the second Wednesday night each month at 7 p.m. You can find out more information by calling the store at (717)293-8022. This sounds like a lot of fun, talking books with other romance fans every month.

Until next time, happy reading and writing!
