Remember that terrific mini series The Stand, based on Stephen King’s epic book? Who could ever forget Gary Sinese as Stew, Ray Walston as the Professor, and Ruby Dee as Mother Abigail? Apparently, Hollywood can, because plans are afoot to turn The Stand into a movie. I cannot imagine anyone but Gary Sinese as Stew – and a lot had to be cut out of the book just to make a mini series. It’s going to be butchered as a movie. Read more at

The famous Japanese anime Akira is going to be made into a Hollywood movie starring James Franco. Hmm – he looks a lot older than Kaneda is supposed to be. Leonardo Di Caprio is behind the production – is this man in love with Asian cinema or what? He’s either remaking them or producing live action...
